Jefferson Dollars for Scholars is a chapter of Scholarship America, the largest privately funded scholarship organization in the world. There are 1,100 chapters nation-wide. Like all other chapters, Jefferson Dollars for Scholars is a local, grassroots organization that gets ALL of our funding from grants, private businesses and corporates, as well as parents, friends and supporters of our cause.

Jefferson Dollars for Scholars is considered the "Friends of the Jefferson Parish Public School System" and is not a part of the school system or any government entity. We are called "Jefferson" Dollars for Scholars because we serve Jefferson Parish.

The mission of Jefferson Dollars for Scholars is to expand access to educational opportunities for Jefferson Parish Public School students through scholarships and academic support.

Founded in 1993, Jefferson Dollars for Scholars has awarded more than $12.5 million in scholarships to over 4,500 students. We are the ONLY chapter to be nationally recognized 3 times for our outstanding work and commitment to our recipients! It is our national claim to fame and one of the highlights of Jefferson Parish itself!

Annual Fund Drive

Our Annual Fund Drive is the primary revenue source for all scholarships,  Businesses and individuals in the metro New Orleans area make the scholarships possible.  If you would like to donate, please go to our secure web donation site to the left.  Please contact us if you are interested in legacy giving, monthly donations, memorial gifts or honorary gifts. 

Jefferson Parish Public School students and employees are asked to contribute $1 to Jefferson Dollars for Scholars through in-school fundraising activities. This campaign raises over $50,000 each year.

Endowment Fund

To ensure the future of scholarships for generations to come, Jefferson Dollars for Scholars maintains a Scholarship Endowment Fund. This fund is steadily growing toward its $1 million goal.
